The Corrugated Packaging Alliance (CPA), co-sponsored by FBA, the American Forest & Paper Association and the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters, is currently working to update its 2003 Wax Treated Survey. Since the original survey, the CPA believes the industry has taken significant action to either change additional customers out of waxed boxes or to develop and implement wax alternatives that meet the industry-generated repulpability/recyclability protocol.
During 2003, FBA members were asked to complete a survey to determine the amount of wax-treated and wax-replacement treated corrugated board shipped during 2002. Through great participation, the CPA developed information that was very helpful in quantifying the treated board market at that time. Data collected this year will quantify the work that has been done since the 2002 results were published.
Hal Tanner of HT Consulting Services has again been contracted to help the CPA compile data. Tanner gathered data for the first survey and has worked with the industry on wax treated corrugated projects for the past six years.
Survey forms have been sent to FBA members who were asked to complete the survey by June 19, 2009. All information received will be kept confidential and will only be used as an industry aggregate. For questions about the survey form, please contact Hal Tanner at HT Consulting Services (phone: 843-546-6911; e-mail: haltanner@sccc.tv).
