How will you celebrate Manufacturing Day?

In a few short weeks, and throughout the month of October, manufacturing companies across the US will celebrate Manufacturing Day. Slated for Friday, October 7, Manufacturing Day helps show the reality of modern manufacturing careers by encouraging companies to open their doors to their communities including students, parents, educators, and community leaders.

It’s expected that manufacturers, including the corrugated packaging industry, will seek to fill 4 million high-skill, high-tech and high-paying jobs over the next decade.

Fibre Box Association (FBA) has been a sponsor of Manufacturing Day for several years and it’s more important than ever that we share the story of the corrugated industry to inspire the next generation of boxmakers.

Not sure where to begin? Manufacturing Day is part of the National Association of Manufacturers’ (NAM) Manufacturing Institute. There are several resources available on the Manufacturing Day website to help you prepare for an event. NAM offers webinars, a host toolkit, a marketing toolkit, Manufacturing Day DIY Video toolkit, government official toolkit and a teacher toolkit that can all be found on the

page.

In May, FBA premiered a new video,

Now Hiring: The Corrugated Packaging Industry

, along with seven :30 second spotlight videos. The videos feature corrugated industry employees talking about their jobs – what they like about them, how they got into the industry, and why the corrugated packaging industry is a good fit for anyone looking for a job that offers stability, growth opportunities, and a voice in the making of an everyday essential product.

The video comes as concerns mount about ensuring the continuation of talented and skilled plant employees across the corrugated packaging industry.

In addition, FBA is seeking member company representatives with an interest in serving on the association’s Human Resources Committee. The committee will meet before the end of this year to explore tools and data that would be helpful to member companies in their recruitment efforts. If you have an interest in participating on the committee, please reach out to me at

or by phone at (847)364-9637.

Finally, if you are planning a Manufacturing Day event, please let us know. We welcome the chance to share your plans with the industry. It may spark others to plan events too.

Thanks,
