The FBA community mourns the passing of Bruce Benson, former association president, who died peacefully on August 31 at the age of 86. Throughout his distinguished career, Bruce served as both a dedicated leader and passionate advocate for the corrugated industry, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues across the field.
"I had the privilege of serving on the FBA Board during Bruce's presidency. His integrity and leadership set the standard for all future presidents to emulate, including myself," said Bob McIlvaine, President of FBA. "His legacy extends beyond his professional contributions, and he will be remembered for the positive impact he made on everyone he encountered."
A Chicago native, Bruce returned to the area after earning his degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore to build his life alongside his wife Barbara and their children. Beyond his professional achievements, he was deeply committed to his community and faith, while maintaining a passion for poker and his beloved Chicago Cubs and Bears.
A memorial service celebrating Bruce's life will be held on Thursday, September 25th, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church and School in his memory.
